The Eggs Have Hatched!
Last Wednesday, Ms. Colando told us about a cool web cam that allowed us to watch a pair of eagles nurture and care for their two eggs, laid on January 5th and 12th. As we watched this amazing sight, we asked questions that came up for us and then did research to find the answers. We learned a lot of interesting things about these magnificent birds! Since we watched together in class, both eggs have hatched! Click the button below to check out the amazingly adorable baby eaglets.
100th Day Reminder!
On Wednesday, February 18th we will return from Mid-Winter Break to celebrate the 100th Day of School. This is a pretty big deal in kindergarten, involving a day full of fun activities! Students are asked to bring 100 of something from home that they can display for our 100 things gallery walk. Please send these things to school with your student on Wednesday. If you forget, don't worry. I will have some backup collections to share.
Raise For Maize
In case you missed Mr. Elliott's recent blog post ~
Do you remember when our students were raising money to feed kids at Dwankhozi Basic School during the "Hungry Season?" The pictures below show the heart stirring results of those efforts. Of our $3000 goal I believe our students raised about $2500 and that money went to provide food for school kids at a time of year when food is scarce and school attendance suffers. By providing food at school students not only get important nutrition but come to school. Genius. Thank you to all our hard working students and generous supporters. If you are interested in still supporting this effort or getting a head start on next year you may contribute at the Dwankhozi Hope website using the PayPal Donate button and in the space provided note "Raise for Maize."
We thank Moses Masala for sending the photos and the captions to us. What a thrilling partnership and labor of love from two communities half-way around the world from each other. Enjoy these lovely pictures.
