Before the whirlwind of this last short week begins, I want to take time to give all of you family members a huge thank you for the support you have provided this year. So many of you have found the time to come in and support our learning in the classroom. Thank you! All of you have supported your child each day as they journeyed through their kindergarten year, sending in snacks and supporting home reading and learning to decipher kindergarten spelling and attending school events! This positive home support is so important in helping maintain your child's positive connection to school. Thank you so much for giving your child such an amazing start!
I hope to see many of you at our picnic lunch on Tuesday, but if I don't have a chance to say goodbye, please know that it has been a joy to work with you all this year. I wish you a summer filled with adventure and relaxation.
What We Learned in Kindergarten...
In Kindergarten, we learned how to ... ~ solve problems by saying "please stop" and using Kelso's choices ~ make some of the bad stuff in the world better ~ focus on the teacher ~ go on the monkey bars (monkey bars are really hard) ~ say the two sounds the vowels make ~ read! first by sounding out words and then just reading! ~ read sight words ~ read with partners ~ not put trash on the street because it can go down to the ocean and hurt the fish ~ write ~ draw pictures ~ make new friends ~ pick up trash ~ be brave, no matter what ~ have gratitude ~ celebrate other people's birthdays ~ be collaborative, like with our African savannas ~ help others ~ go with the flow ~ care for others when they get hurt We also learned ... ~ when things don't go your way you don't have to throw a fit ~ when things don't go your way that is ok ~ the alphabet Zoo Phonics animals |
